I’ve been in the lending industry for 25 years, ever since I stepped foot out of college. I’ve always been a top producer, number-one guy every place I’ve ever been. When I came to Rock Mortgage, I was coming from the rat race and it was a real change in culture to go from chasing so aggressively each and every day to slowing down to focus on what’s really most important.
We’ve tried to create it where we educate the borrower about why they have to do things so they don’t get frustrated, and we try to make it as simple as we can while we do that. When people research us prior to choosing us, they really like what they see. It’s a business model driven around customer first, employee first, people first.”
MY REAL LIFE.
I grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia. We moved from northern New Jersey where we lived for 15 years. We were living right on the border of Manhattan and it was so expensive. We had been to a family reunion a few years before in the Destin, Florida, area and we were like, that would be a nice place to live.
My wife and I have three kids – they’re 15, 14 and 12. I’m a huge sports guy, big Red Sox fan especially. I literally live in a resort on a golf course so I’m trying to get my kids into golf, which I never had the ability to do before. There are two courses right near me, gorgeous courses. And my kids love basketball, so whether I’m coaching or just go to their games, family comes first. I’m going to be there.
MY REAL STORY.
Where I’m very passionate, I would say, is serving the customer. That’s the key to my success, making it where a borrower who works with me once would want to work with me for the rest of their life. I always say if you do the loan right, a client should keep your name and never be refinancing or doing anything in the future without calling you.
I also think I make a difference in developing employees, making sure that they’re grounded, making sure they know that it’s okay if they don’t have a great day every single day, making sure that they’re happy. This company builds around people. It doesn’t build around growth or greed. We’ve been so successful because it’s always about the customer and giving them this great experience.
