MY REAL JOB.

I came to this company from the financial services field where I was a financial planner for 11 years. I like this field because you’re helping people. There are some things you have to have in the homebuying process. You’ve got to have financing and you’ve got to have a good advisor to help you navigate things. What leads the client to one lender over another can be a lot of things, but I think just treating people with respect is what it all comes down to.

Being honest is number one. I never had a problem telling someone the hard things that they needed to do to meet their financial goals. Being honest with people and giving it to them straight is refreshing to some because a lot of people sugar coat things, instead of pointing out some hard truths that the client has to understand if they’re going to move forward.

MY REAL LIFE.

I’m originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I ran track at Bevel State Community College in Hamilton, Alabama, and ran at the University of Alabama in the mile and half-mile. After an injury ended my competitive running career, I transferred to Middle Tennessee State University where I got my degree in finance and business administration.

I am married; my wife’s name is Kimberly and she’s a schoolteacher here in Tuscaloosa at Myrtlewood Elementary. We have two kids, ages four and nine.

MY REAL STORY.

I love volunteering, whether it’s church, school, whatever. I’m a baseball coach. I coach my kids in everything from basketball to football to baseball. My stress relief is coaching kids.

That’s something, believe it or not, that also helps me be successful at work. Having to break things down on the baseball diamond for nine-year-olds has taught me how to break down a loan and explain it to people to where now it’s second nature.

People need that in a loan officer and they appreciate that. They don’t want somebody who’s going to talk over their heads or not take the time to answer their questions. The more ways you can explain something in this business, the more successful you’re going to be.
